A definition

Performance management is an organised approach aimed at helping individuals to achieve their potential by meeting agreed objectives that are in line with the business priorities of their department and company.

Now whether or not you agree with that definition of performance management does not really matter. No doubt you have your own views about performance management and the appraisal process that goes with it.

The purpose of this section is to offer something for everyone involved - for the employee about to face a performance review, the manager about to give an appraisal, the trainer who has to run workshops on appraisals and performance management to the people involved in matching performance criteria to the strategic objectives of the company.
